The city is lively, noisy and busy. Traffic is intense and the streets are full of activity day and night.

We stayed near the central district, which made it easy to explore the Mercado Central and nearby pedestrian streets.

🍽 Excellent local food in small restaurants called sodas

For most visitors, one night in San José is usually enough before heading into the country’s nature areas.

Even during the so-called dry season, sudden rain showers are common.

During our trip, rain reshaped plans several times and occasionally forced changes to activities.
